May 2013 South Austin Marine Annual Run

We’re back on the lake for the 2013 season.  It’s time to kick things into gear with our annual May event sponsored by the good folks at South Austin Marine (http://www.southaustinmarine.com).

On Friday night, a number of us will warm up at the Gnarly Gar.

On Saturday, May 18th, starting at 10am, our first stop and the meet-up will be at Lakeway Marina.  Provided will be breakfast tacos and breakfast drinks.  We’ll hang out there, catching up with each other for a couple of hours.

Around noon, we are heading to Crosswater Yacht Club (http://suntexmarinas.com/suntexportfolio/crosswater/) (at the mouth of Hurst Creek) via Steve Webb’s boat dock by the Island just past Briarcliff.  At the Webb dock, you’ll collect a ticket for a special drawing at Volente Beach Club.  At the Crosswater Yach Club, lunch will be provided.  Bring your favorite beverage and mingle a while.  They will be holding their Grand Opening the following day (Sunday).

Around 3-ish, we will head to Volente Beach Club and have a drink with our friends there.  Here, we will have the drawing for the tickets gathered at the Webb dock.

We will end the evening at Carlos ‘n Charlie’s starting at 5:30pm for the final card draw and celebration.  Music will be provided.

As always, your contributions help so many of the kids in need in Central Texas.  Please come out and join us for the weekend.  There is more than enough water in the lake to have a tremendous amount of fun.

2013 LTPA Schedule

To kickoff another great year on the lake, we have updated the look and usability of our website (now with a Smart Phone interface).  The photo gallery has also been moved to a new service and currently has pictures going back to 2004.  Earlier pictures will be added soon.

We have looked at the dates other organizations have set and have come up with a great calendar of LTPA events for the 2013 season.  The dates are as follows (all on Saturdays):

Pre-Season Party: Apr. 20th
May Run: May 18th
June Run: Jun. 8th
July Run: Jul. 13th
August Run: Aug. 3rd
September Run: Sep. 14th

Save these dates, plan to join us for fun in the sun, and help the kids in need.

Welcome to the LTPA

Welcome to the Lake Travis Powerboat Association (LTPA). Since 1992 our primary goal has been to promote powerboat safety and boater education on Lake Travis.  Lake Travis is located just a short drive west of Austin, Texas in the beautiful Central Texas Hill Country.  We also continuously contribute to various charities benefiting kids in need in the area.

It is the tradition for our association to be recognized as a charitable organization. In previous years, we have made substantial donations to The Sunshine Kids, Central Texas SPCA, the Jack Carmody Memorial Scholarship Fund, the 9-11 Disaster fund, Blue & Brown Santa, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, RED Arena, and Travis County Calf Scramble.

The 2013 season promises to be another year of fun for our members. The lake is in fine shape to have plenty of fun.  We are planning on five poker runs this year along with pre-season year-end parties.  To make our events more enjoyable with less boat traffic on the lake, our events have been scheduled so they do not interfere with holidays or other major events around town.

Your membership entitles you to various discounts on fuel and many marine supplies through our member marinas, retailers and suppliers.
